Fecal Exams and Lab tests

jdm May 30, 2007 11:48 AM

Anyone have a good recommendation on a place where I can send in fecal samples and have tests done for parasites and other testing asside from going to the vet? I know that in the past, many veterinarians have submit the samples to Sonora Quest labs to have them tested. I have contacted Sonora Quest and they told me that they no longer do lab work for animals. Is there another lab I can contact in order to have my labs run directly?

I can't really help with your specific question, but depending on what you're concerned about/looking for...

It seems like parasitic worms are by far the most common parasite at least in snakes, and if you have enough animals to be asking this question it probably won't take you long to spend more than the price of a mediocre microscope...

Just a thought...

I agree. And if all else fails, at least you have a cool microscope to play with

On a somewhat related note... Aren't 3-D dissecting microscopes AWESOME?

I so wanted one until I heard the pricetag.
