i was just thinking about how most adders are vipers yet death adders are elapids is a death adder a true adder? is adder just a descriptive name?

I think the word "adder" is used rather loosely with some species (think puff adders), but in the case of death adders, it was mainly because they got the name before anyone realized they were elapids, and it stuck.
