Awesome snake. Where did he come from?

Great looking snake. I'd love to get a pure chocolate Cal King. Where'd you get him?

I got a pair of these from a broker. Sold to me as chocolate Cal's....

when I got them the first thing I noticed was how similar the head shape - especially the supraocular, is to my Mexican Black kings.
I also thought maybe Nitida but they're lacking even trace Nitida markings..

Does anyone remember how Lloyd Lemke's hypo Mex.Blk. kings looked...?? To me these look very much like that - completely solid light brown with a slightly darker head. Even the tongue is very light.

Whatever they are, I think they look stunning. I'll be doing alot of breeding trials with these to see what I can narrow down.

Thanks for the comments guys!

First off, GREAT looking snake!!!! Second, I have seen solid black/brown snakes marked as nitidas sitting along side "normal" looking ones from a reputable breeder, so I wouldn't automatically dismiss that idea. Jetzen's Snickers was sold to him as a yumensis, so it could also be one of those too, but who knows. Just because it has a solid pattern doesn't mean it has any MBK in it.

Are you going to be pairing those up with your nitidas down the road?

I plan on breeding these with nitida, hypermelanistic Cal's, and possibly my Mexican Blacks. I want to see how they grow and look before I mix them in with the MBK's.

I've seen a few nitida with really dark dorsal striping that almost blends in with the ground color but the overall color of these is so much lighter in comparison.

I'll try to get a good photo of the heads.... That is what makes me think they have MBK blood in them.
