i am still not clear on why so much work and effort has been exerted towards making it illegal to collect reptiles from the roadway in tx. i mean who really cares? im serious, how will they benefit if the law is passed? if its not because of money, safety, or conservation, then what is it? it must awfully important to someone if they have to sneak it in another bill to get it passed.

There have been people out there that make it point to hassel collectors in the past. Maybe one of them kicked this off?

Hilderbran likely is in the pocket of a hand full of TP&W L/E people who have a long-standing dislike for herpers. It is also a possibility that he might be in the pocket of some of the animal rights fruitcakes such as the HSUS, PETA, and API. These groups have some big bucks to throw around. It might be interesting to know where his more recent political contributions have come from.

.......what about the round-up folks? Have they never been heard from? I can't imagine they would stand by queitly and loose all that cash - as much as I'd like to see them shut down myself.

They can be heard and we can partner up with them... The only thing is that if we push anything next year, on item should be a TP&W reg dealing with dumping chemiclas like gasoline on the ground for the purpose of hunting. If we strike that one issue out, I can live with the festival myself.
