Ever hear of a Bohemian Rat Snake?

AbsoluteApril May 31, 2007 10:53 AM

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Is there such a thing as a ‘Bohemian Rat Snake’? I am much more familiar with boas and have never heard of this type of rat snake before (I’ve only had corn snakes and emoryi rat snakes). My guy says that he used to have a Bohemian rat snake, described as being a dark snake with scales that changed from a purple to orange hue, 5-6’ in length, hard to find and cost a few hundred dollars about 4-5 years ago. I’d like to get him one as a gift, but can’t for the life of me find anything about this snake. Does anyone know about these? (Possibly he is mistaken… I was thinking it was maybe a black rat snake, some morph, or some type of beauty or other old world snake?)
Thanks!

common name, Aesculapian Snake. Check out the link below. You may have to show him a picture to be sure.

he said that wasn't it. Said it was a solid color. Who knows! I told him I couldn't find anything online called a Bohemian rat snake, so we figure the guy that he got it from was misinformed.
Thanks!
