Sand in ear

Jake_Jackson May 31, 2007 11:41 AM

I noticed some sand in my beardies ear. Just wanted to know how to get it out? Should I be worried about something else, or is it just that simple, sand in ear and wash it out?

I suggest brushing it out carefully with a soft tipped clean paintbrush, maybe slightly damped so the sand sticks to it. I don't recommend using water as it would be too easy for water to get down into the ear canal and possibly cause infection.

If there is any concern of sand being stuck down into the ear canal and the dragon cannot shake it out himself or shows signs of irritation etc (constant scratching at the ear area or head shaking) a vet trip will be necessary to remove all the sand and possible treatment for infection.
