Classifieds usually thin.....

Guttersnacks May 31, 2007 12:15 PM

Why is it difficult to find greybands in the classifieds section here on kingsnake.com ?

I'm in the market for some really nice looking blairs and after seeing some nice pix from Herpo (both pairs are awesome!), I think I could splurge on some nice looking black pinstriped ones too with no red on them. Babies from either of his pix are really what I'm looking for.
Again, I'm just wondering why the greyband classifieds always seem to be so thin. Do the babies get spread out amongst the "circle of friends" before there are even any left to sell publicly?

You may not get many replies as everyone is concerned with another issue right now (http://forums.kingsnake.com/forum.php?catid=13). But it is as this as it would be if it were a section of thayeri kings, durango mountain kings, arizona mtn kings, or any specific montain king. There are not many breed and the ones that are, are spread around locally and among friends first and few make up to the classifieds, also many people that breed them dont breed much else, and thus do not bother with selling anything on the classifieds. Many people on here breed local snakes that would not bring the price they are worth on the classifieds, but can be found among friends.

My advice is to get involved here on the forum, and when you see some you like tell the owner you like them, perhaps send them a PM asking if offspring will be for sale. Goodluck.

most of the babies have not hatched yet. be patient and when things start hatching you will be rewarded.

Also you can go to the rec. breeders list and e-mail the breeders and ask to be put on the waiting list for the animals you seek. This is a good idea because it will reserve your place in line and assure better choices of animals.

...for the quick and thorough reply.
I had myself on someones list last (Tom Anderson if I recall right) year for some screamer Blairs, and then decided against it at the last minute when they were offered to me. I think there were some feeding issues with them at the time and my funds needed to go elsewhere or something. I'm a bit foggy on it right now. It was all my own fault for not getting them.
I'll keep an eye out.

If the animals were not feeding and you were not ready to put in the time to them started then you made the right decision...

Nothing wrong with that choice at all. I hope you find some good stuff. I just picked up a couple of blairs here locally in the dfw area. 1 juno and 1 langtry.

Best Wishes,

Steven
