Is this a pied marker?

drewby07 May 31, 2007 12:24 PM

I've had this girl for about a year and a half now, and I just noticed this marking the other day. For some reason I never paid much attention to it before, but am I looking at the infamous pied marker? And is that a "ringer" down near her vent?

Here are a few pics:

Not all by itself, no. The markers don't necessarily mean the snake's a het pied.
Look, my normal (I hatched this baby myself) girl has it too!

Only way to know is to...you know the rest.

Jenny,

The belly edge stripes aren't really far enough apart on yours to be a good example of the indicator that we look for in possible het pieds. Only the one big scale is white in-between on yours and not all three as in lots of places on Drew's.

Drew,

It's not terribly likely unless you know she came from a pied line but since it's a female if you happen to have a pied project going anyway I'd work her into it just in case.

Hay jin.that not even close to a het pied marker

That is what the marker looks like but if the animal doesn't come from known pied linage, that it probably just a striped belly normal.
