Galapagos and Aldabras???

tsusnakeguy May 31, 2007 03:53 PM

I was wondering what the differences between the Galapagos and Aldabra tortoises are. Is it only a local thing or are there physical differences? I would appreciate any info you can give me.

As far as I know, the aldabras weigh a couple of hundred pounds less than galapagos, but the important distinction is that the galapagos doesn't have a nuchal scute and the aldabra does.

Size difference is highly debatable.

I am not sure but I think the only differance is that an Aldabra has a "Nuchal Scute".
