the daddy could be a het...if they aren't from the same gene line then they would all be hets. the babies are all definitely hets!
As far as I know albino checkereds are single recessive.I have never heard of multiple strains. If some one can help straighten me out I would appriciete it.clark
I'm no master of genetics, but I've been told that if the genes don't match up a certain way basically, they all have hets. My basic understanding is that different snakes have the albino gene in different spots on the dna chain...if they don't match up right, they don't come out as albinos....If the snakes are related somewhere along the line, they match up and out pop albinos. Email Scott Felzer..he knows a lot more on the genetics!!!!!
Thanks.
Clark,
Congrats on your babies. That is a small enough clutch where she may not have produced albinos but is a het. If she had 20 babies and no albinos, that would be a definite sign she wasn't a het. Also there are 2 checkered albinos strains out in the hobby. Years ago someone (can't remember who) had bred these 2 together and then had the double hets for the 2 traits. Never heard what happend to the double hets but it is a remote possibility yours could be from the other albino lineage.
Scott
Thanks Scott.I had never heard that there were 2 strains.
