confused...

I was at my local petco (this is isn't where I got my skink) today and found something rather puzzling. Under one of the empty lizard terrariums that are awaiting arrivals, there was a sign for schneider's skinks. The sign read:

Schneider's Skink:

Cannot drink from water dish
mist daily

I've had my schneider for about 6 years now, I've read several care sheets, and never heard anything about misting. They are desert-dwelling, correct? Have I totally missed something here? Not to mention I've seen my skink drink from his water dish a couple times. It's a very rare sight but I have seen him do it. Now I'm paranoid that he isn't getting enough moisture. Can someone clue me in here?

Hes getting plenty of moisture from the dish, but with some of these desrt dwelling skinks it is a good idea to add a little water too the bottom layer of the substrate. I have never heard of anyone misting a schneiders skink.

Chain stores believe that a possible sale would be easier if the consumer thinks this "desert dweller" needs less care to keep alive. Anything to sell an animal...so they can sell accessories.

Like you said, yours is drinking from a dish. try an early morning misting and see if he/she goes for the dew effect.
