You said..."i have been seeing alot of different pictures and colors of vieleds and was wondering do all young "pet store" vieleds turn nice color or do they stay green?"...I have tried to figure out for years what color my hatchlings are going to be when they grow up....there doesn't seem to be a way to be sure. Some males are brown and green, others are torquoise, white and brown and still others are torquoise and yellow. Some of the females can be quite brown while others are a bright green and others a more dull green.

You asked..."can anyone suggest any good vield breeders and good supply places online to get the housing lights etc."...I have no idea....I never buy on line.

About the only way to get an idea of what a young veiled will look like is to see pictures of the parents. A good quality breeder will have pics of parents, siblings, or other "relatives" of their babies available. They will keep studbooks, and give information on future planned clutches. Breeders who don't really care (and this can also mean they don't give their animals good care either) will not, and may not even be able to tell who bred with whom. There is no guarrantee of course, but it may help. Kammerflage Kreations is a good quality breeder. A little $40 baby veiled at a pet shop may have a lot of problems. There are lots of sources for supplies. The key is to get a list of the RIGHT supplies and price shop. Probably the most important supplies will be a UVB light, insect gutloads, and dusts. Almost everything else can be bought many places. The tried and true UVB light most of us use is the ReptiSun 5.0 tube light. Basking lights can be ordinary house light bulbs. You need both unless you want to try the combination heat and UV bulbs. I haven't used them so am not an expert. They can be tempermental and expensive. Calcium dust can be Minerall I (if the cham will be indoors under lights) or Minerall O (if kept outdoors) or Rep Cal. Vitamin dust can be Herptivite. These brands have been used for years. Gutloads are best if you make them yourself, as most commercial brands are pretty poor. There is a great gutload recipe on the ADCHAM website.
