i believe that snakes do not have ears to actualy hear, but they can pick up on the vibrations, and yes i think every snake owner talks to their snakes weather or not the actually understand or care what is being said
Do you think that snakes know there owners smell?????
don't underestimate pheramones. If we ever cover that in medical school I'll post more about how potent our scent is and we'll compare it to data on how sensitive snake smell is calculated to be. I definitely think the snakes know
while snakes don't have outward ears they have some of the parts internally. I think most vibration is picked up along the bottom of the snake. I too speak to all my snakes, not because I'm expecting them to understand me but because they are my pets and talking is part of our interaction. While they don't hear in the same sense that we do, I'm sure they can feel the vibration. I doubt that they can understand what we are saying but I still talk to them anyway (sometimes in kind of a baby voice like you would your dog, LOL). I don't know for a scientific fact that they can tell the smell of their owner compared to others but I bet they can tell the difference, especially seeing as that is their main sense. I believe they can tell when I'm holding them over someone else. I know that when I do presentations at my daughters school, while they have no complaint being held by others they will almost always gravitate towards me and try to get back to being held by me. Hope this helps, Scott.
