Has there been any reaction from HH?

raintree Jun 01, 2007 11:39 AM

I've yet to hear whether Hilderbran's office has reacted in any way to the abuse allegations. Anyone heard?

Yes he had a puppet field phone calls and argue points not even covered by the scope of the bill in question.

There is nothing further his office can do to help us at this point, but there is a lot we can do to hold him accountable for his abuse of the legislative process.

thomas davis Jun 01, 2007 12:06 PM

yes the puppet i spoke to was tod, which informed me that really its a SAFETY issue(his words i saw pic on that kingsnakeDOTcom and there was a guy laying in the middle of the road takin a snakes pic and he said his 4yr.old daughter snapped the pic which meant she was standing in the road takin a pic!on a curve!!and cps shoulda been brought in on that irresponsible guy!) now as well as natural resource that CANNOT be taken his view was well you cant take prize wild deer breed them to your average deer and sell them or profit from them in anyway hmmmmmmmm ok?!? sadly i think we are screwed us weird freeky snake people just dont matter its only a matter of time before keeping them at all will be legal,,,,,,,

Here ya go Todd,

Every DPS officer interviewed could NOT cite one single traffic accident or injury caused by Herpetologists.

In other words, he is full of crud because there is NO data to support his claim. He simply has an opinion.

thomas davis Jun 01, 2007 12:26 PM

yes i agree joe but apparently its him and people like him whos opinion is being heard and listened to their view is do we have to have something trajic happen BEFORE we pass this law!sad its purtneer impossible to change that line of stinkin thinkin,,,,,,thomas davis

this is the first dominoe against our hobby ya'll in the words of my favorite wrestler WHATCHA GONNA DO???!!!???

thomas davis Jun 01, 2007 12:34 PM

when talking with tod he gave a troopers name and number if you would like it email me im not sure i should post the number here i havnt called as i do not have data in front of me supporting us herpers his name is major sinclair are you aware of this?or has anyone spoken with him he is the one apparently with traffic/safety data,,,,,,,thomas davis

keown Jun 01, 2007 12:51 PM

Thats BS and it shows how ill-informed they really are. The individual they are talking about is not a Trooper. He is not with DPS. He is the TP&W Major in charge of wildlife enforcement.

So he finally dropped a name on us?? SWEET!

We needed that bad.

I can guarantee you that the "safety issue" is not the reason why this is happening. This is just a lame ass excuse! Think about it.

Laying in the middle of the road photographing a reptile is not and will not be illegal even with the passage of HB 12.

Does he have the ability to address what is at issue?

Aaron Jun 01, 2007 06:26 PM

There are safty issues but that is no reason to not explore what represents a real out of the ordinary issue and what issues amount to no more than the risks we take just by walking out the door. Comparisions of us to other hunters is sometimes apples to oranges, espesially when the proposed solution is a situation in which reptile hobbyists have no access to any public lands and other hunters do have at least some access. I am very disappointed that Hildebrand may have let a few rude or threatening poeple color his views. A true professional would have been more objective, I am sure politicians commonly deal with nutcase behavior. A real public servant has the ability to rise above that and examine substance.

lbenton Jun 01, 2007 01:42 PM

They represent a much more dangerous crowd, just ask Dick Cheney and Harry Whittington.

So if they are in such a cry over safety they should also ban quail hunting.

Do not use perception over facts to make a law, it is wrong.

"Can't take a prize deer and breed it to your average deer to sell for profit".......wtf? I'm a deer hunter - it happens all the time.......ranchers bring in deer with better genetics (read larger antlers) and breed them into the wild deer on their ranches (which are legally public property) and charge extremely high fees to hunt them. what kind of nonsense is this?

alterna63 Jun 01, 2007 02:17 PM

SICK EM ED!!!!!! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaw!!!1 SICK EM!!!

mred Jun 01, 2007 03:58 PM

seriously, who does TP&W think they're kidding?

Aaron Jun 01, 2007 06:40 PM

That's right. All of Hildebrands arguments crumble under scrutiny. There just is no excuse for us to be the only group with no public access in the Trans-Pecos region. Why he thought that was needed and fair is a mystery to me. There have been many polite logical arguements that reptile hobbyist should have some place to go. This total ban on public hunting in the Trans Pecos region will only anger hobbyist further and rightfully so.
Hildebrand should be proposing compromises now before this gets any worse. He is the one primarily responsible for this and he needs to begin listening now rather than having his staffers present weak arguments that don't even apply to the real issue-no access.

My call today was answered by said puppet, I was told he handles all bill related items but not this one but would be glad to record my dissatisfaction for the record, then I was cut off!!! Also cut off while waiting for Gov. Perry's office, I recalled and left a message. I will call Hildy's office again and be sure I am heard! Grrrr!

Talk about rude behavior, that's the pot calling the kettle black. Shouldn't politicians listen to the people???
