HELP!!!! Hole in the head?!?

medyssa Jun 01, 2007 02:15 PM

I noticed this morning while starting to take pictures of the babies that Aladdin, one that is spoken for, has what looks to be a hole in his head where there might be missing a scale?
It looks like it goes down to either a layer of skin or bone. I tried to take the best pictures I could. I just need to know if i should sell him or not, he has eaten twice and shed.
What do I do? I think the person who wants to buy him from me would understand, he bought one of my babies last year and is a great guy.
Any suggestions at all would be helpful.

Jess,
...Those happen with the first sheds sometimes. I think it is just a spot where the scale was imperfect (or a minor injury and scab) and when the shed came off it took the piece of imperfect scale (or scab) with it. They more often happen right in the middle of the top of the head. I used to see them most commonly on baby CRBs after the first shed. They are also more common on some of the Pythons. It should heal up and fill in and look okay after a couple more sheds.

Looks like he pulled a scale while shedding. Couldn't be afeeder bite since his food is too small to have teeth.

IMO, discuss it with your buyer. Offer to hold him until next shed if they buyer wants. Can't tell how bad it is from the pic but should heal just don't know if it'll leave a scar.

Does it look infected? A tiny dab o polysporin would be in order. I do mean tiny!!

The buyer is going to pick him up on the 16th so I have time to watch it I just put some triple antibiotic on it, itty bitty amount just enough to get it in the hole. I hope it does close up, I am emailing the guy right now.
Thank you!

polysporin different from neosporin cuz I put a little dab of neo on my bci's bobo one time and I found that if I put more than a dab he would feel it and rub it off immediately. Is polysporin made for reptiles out of curiosity?

honestly ive used neosporin on my bearded dragon once and it worked out fine. and i had to use it again on WC Corn Snake my friend found in the Florida Keys and brought to me and he healed up just fine with it.

Nah, polysporin is the multiple formula antibiotic ointment,

Neo being one active ingredient, poly meaning multiple, I think three in antibiotic ointment

well dave im lookin at my neosporin tube here and it has three active ingredients...

Bacitracin - 400 untis
Neomycin - 3.5 mg
Polymyxin B - 5,000 units

possibly polysporin may have more units/mg's of each, but to my understanding neosporin is a trible antibiotic ointment....

but then again i could be wrong
