Here is what the cage looks like in the apt. I also got another pic of the little gals. They seem to be doing great still considering its only their second day here. They were up this morning around 8.. had a bit to eat.. sunned then hid.. then are out for a second tiny snack of collard greens before sunning right now. I have to say these desert iguanas have more personality than most species this size.

if they decide to brumate, you may not see them for 7 months of the year. I believe John Styner's were under for a good 7 months time. Unbelievable...I got worried when my collareds were under for 4 months. These guys can sleep forever.

I did not know that about them. Thank you for the heads up. The only lizard I have kept before them that was like them, was a trio of collareds quite a while back. This info will definitely keep me from some unnecessary stress. But of course there will still be the inevitable worrying of me wondering if it REALLY is brumation, or if they're sick. I think goes for a lot of people though(?).

Thanks,

Funny you mentioned the brumation thing Johneee, Hershey my male iggy roams with 2 of the collareds in the reptile room. Anyway there are places here and there in the room, rocks, sneaky hiding places they use... but the desert iggy is lively and active all winter when it's cooler and seems to start to hide out NOW, when it gets a bit hot.
I will not see him for days (although I do know where he's bunking) but he vanishes when the temps go up higher. Comes out to eat every so often , and is fine. But this always freaks me out worrying about him This is the 3d or 4th season now so I pretty much know what his habit is.

Just baffles me as to the season he picks to sleep!
