This girl is fresh blood and is unrelated to all Outer Banks King stock out there. She isnt the most speckled but I think she is a beauty and should breed next year.

.

By unrelated to anything else, I assume you mean WC, correct? If so, isn't is still illegal to collect on the island? Wouldn't that make this an illegal animal? Or did you just collect in on the mainland next to the island? Some of the best looking ones come from the mainland, I agree, but do you think it is proper to call it an "Outer Banks" (implying a locality to almost everyone) if it is only that color phase coming from OFF of the islands?
Thanks,
KJ
This animals is from Hatteras parents. She is an F1 . I believe she was the only one produced from the Hatteras parents. I didnt collect her or her parents Im simply relying the info as it was given to me. As for the best animals coming form the coast yes there are some nice Easterns there but none of them look as nice as some of the nicest "Outer Banks" Kings.

What I meant was that some of the most speckled, best looking Outer Bank PHASE kingsnakes came off of the mainland next to the island and not off of the island itself. That's part of the reason, I suspect, that they are no longer recognized as a different subspecies.
Easterns that look like Outer Bank kings have been frequently found on the mainlans and not all snakes found on the island look like what we picture when we think of an Outer Banks king.
Yes I agree that Easterns on the coast have some speckling as well as animals in S. Carolina and Georgia. I dont personally think Outer Banks Kings are a sub species like the State of NC does but I imagine if they had been left alone for a few thousand years they may have become genetically unique to mainland Getula.

Do you have any photos of hatchlings? I'm curious if the interband lightening shows up when they hatch or as they age.
Here is a 5 month comparison . The first pic is when that snake was 2 months old.
