EMERALD COAST (Florida) 31 May 07 Gators on display at Heritage Museum
The City of Fort Walton Beach Heritage Park & Cultural Center’s first traveling exhibit, Alligators: Dragons in Paradise, begins today, Thursday, May 31, and runs until August 29.
The exhibit highlights the history of the alligator in Florida myth and culture and features exciting visual displays, interactive opportunities, and fascinating educational information. The exhibit is housed in the Indian Temple Mound Museum.
Heritage Park will offer additional alligator programming throughout the summer including a visit from the Zoo Mobile with a live gator and other reptiles on June 16 at 10:30 a.m.
Plans are currently being made for July with Fudpucker’s Gator Beach education program, and a story-telling presentation will be given by the museum’s education coordinator at the Ft. Walton Beach Library on August 4.
Alligators: Dragons in Paradise is part of Heritage Park’s current Campaign for Culture, a public awareness program to increase community participation in the museums’ programming and visitation. The campaign will be ongoing throughout the year to highlight the treasure of unique artifacts and historic buildings located downtown at Heritage Park.
Heritage Park & Cultural Center is located at 139 Miracle Strip Parkway SE. Admission is $5 plus tax for adults, $4.50 plus tax for seniors 55 and active military, and $3 plus tax for children 4 to 17. The museums are open Monday through Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sundays in June and July noon to
4:30 p.m.
