BUSINESS WIRE (USA) 31 May 07 World’s Largest Python Welcomes Travelers at Columbus Airport
Columbus, Ohio: It's not your normal welcoming committee, that's for sure. As travelers at Port Columbus Airport walk down the main concourse toward baggage claim, they're greeted by an unexpected sight: A 24-foot, 303-pound reticulated python that just swallowed somebody’s suitcase.
Her name is Fluffy, the world's largest python, and she's the star of this 30-foot, eye-catching advertisement. She's also this summer's main attraction at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. Ron Foth Advertising, Columbus, created the giant “wallscape” to promote zoo attendance -- and make stressed travelers smile. In the photo, it's obvious Fluffy has made a meal of a large suitcase. The headline next to her reads, "Lost Luggage?" The bottom of the ad invites visitors to meet Fluffy at the Columbus Zoo.
Advertisers are constantly looking for new opportunities to break through and capture an audience's attention, according to agency President and CEO Ron Foth, Sr. "This is a dramatic space, with thousands of impressions a week," Foth said.
"This is the type of ad that stops people in their tracks and creates a lot of buzz. It's a fun, unique way to welcome visitors to Columbus, and promote our world-class zoo. Everybody who passes by gets a kick out of it. In fact, a lot of people want their picture taken with it."
The wall banner went up Memorial Day weekend to coincide with the heavy summer travel season. Fluffy will be at the Columbus Zoo through October.
