Post Shed Striped Jungle Pics

DavidKendrick Jun 01, 2007 08:19 PM

Thought I would share some post shed Hatchling Jungle pics, I was curious if anyone has produced Striped Jungles before? This is one of the more striped ones of the clutch, this one is my personal favorite...

Has anyone heard of or produced Striped Jungle Carpets before?

I have a very nice striped JCP myself, and have seen a few. I'm interested as to whether or not it's genetic as you've mentioned before. I'll be experimenting in '08 w/ my striped female.

Nice striping on that one. I have a few that were produced in a pairing from a Partial Stripe Jungle Male to a Non-Striped Coastal Female. The results seemed to be an inheritabale trait but has not yet been proven to be genetic. The pairing was done by Austrailian Addictions with their Skunk male. Here are some of the offspring that I picked up from Ben. If you look closely, you can see influences of both the Coastal patterning more towards the rear half and the striping from the male jungle in the forward half. I have been pressing Ben to get the striped male jungle paired with a female he produced a few years ago but he wants to hold out for another year. Can anyone help me convince him? I'm planning on putting these guys together in a few years to see what the striping influence did in these guys. Hey Ben, if you're reading in on this, what is the ETA on that pairing?

Unrelated Female Striped JCP (only 2 small breaks in the stripe)

Hi Dave / Amanda . The first striped jungles for me was back in late 80's. Vertebrae striping seems to be a pretty strong genetic trait in carpets . Even animals that exhibit a relatively small amount of broken striping can produce fully striped offspring. So far I've had every type of carpet that I've worked with throw stripes at one time or another. This trait has a variety of possibly's

Hey Ernie, Thanks for replying...That is one beautiful Stripe, Did you notice a certain percentage of hatchlings with the stripe? I got some that where totally banded, and some that where almost all striped...Did you notice any ratios of stripes to banded....

Here is an older pic of siblings, one is totally banded while one is fully striped...

The striped in the previous comparison post, shed recently so I thought I would share some new pics of it as well...Do you think its a Dominant or Co-dom trait? or have you noticed it being more random? The Female (Dam) of this clutch was nicely banded, and the Father (Sire) was totally banded, and roughly half came out striped and half came out banded or abberant...

I would think it fits the Co-Dominate . In all the cases for me when I used a striped animal a good percentage of the baby's exhibited striping . I have to point out that I never used a clean gene . By that I mean I never used fully striped animals that were the prodigy of fully striped parents. I would think that would a little selective breeding you could refine the characteristics so that you could produce nothing but clean banded animals or fully striped. Something like the California Kingsnake guys have done. Ernie Eison
