4 Days of SoCal Herping Down South

reako45 Jun 01, 2007 10:40 PM

Oven-in-hell hot out there! We saw mostly Hots @ night and Desert Iggies during the day. This is a pic of the first Desert Iggy I ever noosed in Borrego. It escaped when I handed it to one of the rangers that detained us (even though we were OUTSIDE THE STATE PARK). I jumped out of his hand, onto his shirt and made a mad dash for freedom beneath a creosote bush.

may i ask did you ever see any geckos?

reako45 Jun 02, 2007 05:24 PM

Strangely no, we didn't see any geckos. We've seen geckos before out in Lancaster, and in Mecca. Depending on where you are, rest stops can be a great place to see geckos. There was a rest stop just out of Yuma, AZ w/ tons of those House geckos and I think we found 2 or 3 Bandeds.
