Finished "Sun cage"

reptileszz Jun 02, 2007 06:32 AM

OK, Pete's kennel cage is done. And so there is no confusion, this is only for him to go out in during the day as often as possible but is by no means his permanent home. I did go with astroturf for now for lack of anything better to use. I figure I will replace it when it gets too nasty. Considering there are only really 3.5 good months of weather here if we are lucky I am hoping to get by with a new carpet every year. If something better comes along I will consider it.

Check it out. He went out in it for the first time yesterday. It seems secure and there is no way his fat head is getting out the holes. When poking his nose out he didnt even get close to his eyes making it out the holes.

Will try and get better pics of him actualy basking. It was pretty hot out and he seemed a bit stressed out about all the new space to walk around in.

Thanks for all the help guys!

hey another thing u can try is building a wooden box with a locking door and putting a pig blanket in so at night he can go in the box or u can put him in the box and leave him outside all summer. my rhinos hate going in and out and they get so aggressive outside id rather leve them out till they calm down again.i know u dont like building but home depot will cut the wood for u just nail or screw it together have the door peice cut out and screw some hinges on put the lock on drill hole for heat pad cord and your done. only need pad if below 55 degress.id use 1 inch ply kind of thick put will screw ogether nicely.

Hi, I would leave him out but he wants to come back inside so much he climbs the walls after a couple of hours. I thought about a dog house in tehre with a pig blanket but he really likes to come back in. Oddly he doesnt get aggressive out there.
