Found a new snake, what kind?

cito Aug 16, 2003 11:10 AM

I was in my yard today and i found a tiny baby snake. Not a ringneck. This snake was about 4 inches long, 1/2 centimeter wide and had a huge head. The head was shaped unlike any i've ever seen. The body was light gray on the bottom, and blackish gray on top with little yellow spotted/lines going down the side. I know the body looks like a garter snake but ive seen day old garter snakes and they are much bigger then this one. And their head shapes are much differant. So i was wondering what kind of snake this might be? I live in Connecticut. Also, what would i feed a snake like this?

Hello. are the scales keeled or smooth? With most small ground dwelling snakes earthworms, salamanders,. Is the nose hooked like a hognose?
