I found this amazing little guy hiding in a store here in Austin, TX. Needless to say, I was excited.....

he is my first ball python, and a pastel to boot. I know very little about ball pythons and all of this species' morphs, but he looked too beautiful to pass up.

Congrats! That's an absolutely beautiful snake. However, I wouldn't assume that it's a "pastel" just yet. I've seen tons of captive hatched babies look like that when they are still very young, and then fade as they age. Hopefully he'll keep his color though! Good luck!

did you buy it as a pastel or do you think its a pastel?

dont worry about wether its a morph or not, you bought it because you like it and thats the most important thing.

ive heard that on pastels orange fades to brown. but even if its not pastel it should make some extra bright babies when bred to one.

good luck, and nice find.

he was, in fact, advertised as a pastel. this place has a few morphs up for sale, including spiders and fancies. I hope he proves out as well.

Perhaps it's just the poor photography but that looks like a normal to me - do you have a good head and belly shot? Tho with the price of pastels hitting $100 it was likely they'd show up in the pet stores soon enough.

Congrats on the new addition!!
