too big housing?

birdhou53 Aug 16, 2003 11:23 AM

has anyone here ever had a problem with housing a corn snake in a tank that might be too big for him? would a 27 gallon tank with quite a few hiding spots do fine for a baby corn?

A 27 gallon may be a little bit too big for a hatchling to start in... it may be harder to monitor/keep track of certain things. I would go for a 10 gallon, wait a few weeks/months till it gets a little larger & then move it into the larger tank.....but thats just me. Another perspective is that they have acres upon acres in the wild, and they do just fine... so basically, its up to you.

Since you already have the tank, I say try it out. I don't have much experience with corns in large enclosures, but I did put my then-2ft boa in a cage approx. 5'x2.5' and she was fine.
