When it gets too warm during summer....

merlin7676 Jun 03, 2007 09:10 PM

how do you keep your collection cool? Assuming the heating elements are all off (minus feeding) what steps can I take so it doesn't get too warm?
I live in the pacific NW and while it doesn't get overly hot here we do get some rather warm (high 80s and low 90s) days during summer and nobody has A/C including me.
Just curious now that summer is on it's way.

no one has AC? WOW.....just kidding. It may get that hot outside, but does it get that hot inside the house? You can get a room sized window AC unit for under $100 that will keep the room at 75-80 degrees w/out using a whole lot of current. I never used to use AC either until I had to keep eggs from overheating in the summer (gets hot in the southeast).

Idont think its a problem unless the cages get SUN,80-90 is fine providing they have water and 100% shade and ventilation,of coarse there are species of Boas etc. that cant take heat, most if not all Kingsnakes can endure the summer no prob.Chris

I live in Redding - I put ice cubes in the water dishes on the worst days.
