You can take a piece of scotch or masking (not something real sticky like duct) tape, roll it sticky side out around your finger, and then gently tap it onto the stuck eyecap to remove it.

Some people dont like this method, but it works..

You have to be real sure its a stuck eyecap though.

Or just rub some watered down KY gel into it and it will eventually come off after a few days or so..

Look at the rest of the shed, and sometimes you can tell right away that an eye cap is missing from the shed on the left or right side, whichever...then you know for sure

thank you much .. i put some water on a piece of paper towel still hasnt come off yet it seems to be stuck on there .. its not effecting his temperment or eating habits any.. so ill just wait till his next shed if not ill bring it to the local vet... thank you

internet diagnosis is never a sure thing, be careful with that.

from the pic, you can't tell what exactly is going on with the eye. it almost looks swollen and milky. could just be the pic. an eye cap is simply that, a thin piece of shed over the eye. no added bulk, no infection, no milkiness. if there is swelling, fluid, or any number of other symptoms, it could be much more serious.

try a better pic, or use your own judgement on waiting for a professional hands on diagnosis. if it is just an eye cap, no big deal, easy fix. if it is something more serious, you may be courting serious problems by the time the next shed rolls around.

best of luck. when in doubt, see a good vet.

I agree - perhaps it's just a bad picture - but to me that looks like an infection not just a stuck eye cap.

just a bit of advice please don't wait till next she d for it to come off u need to get that off there asap if u leave it it can cause some issues use the tape method it will work and the snake will be happy u did, i got a rescue that someone took that approach with when i got him ha had at least three layers of eye caps on one side, and had never had a complete shed so please don't let that be the case with ur animal do him the the favor and take it off if it is truly an eye cap

Well from the pic . You posted it is hard to tell I blew it up pretty big and from what I can see it dose not look like a eye cap but like I said it is not a very good pic. To be trying to make a diagnosis with . David of DS Reptile Rescue

I like to soak the snake in a secure container with air holes. Fill up the container with warm water (not hot) so it is about halfway up the snakes body and add just a drop of liquid soap (just enough so when you agitate the water you barely get bubbles). Let the snake soak in there for about 4 hours and usually the eye cap will just come off on it's own if it is an eye cap.
