DO NOT use Red Ceder!!!

Use paper towels or newspaper.. Or if you want it to look more natural aspen bedding..

Cedar and pine are both bad choices as they both contain toxic oils

Aspen and cypress are the most commonly used

Carpet works well also. Every type of bedding has its pros and cons. Newspaper and paper towel is cheap, easy to clean, and recycleable. But it looks like crap. Aspen is easy to clean, hold burrows pretty well, and is pretty affordable but I (personally) don't like the look of it. Carpet is cheap, and looks nice (imo). But it is a pain to clean. The cypres mulch looks nice as well, and is pretty cheap. But it is very dusty and can cause your snakes to wheeze.

I have another question, the eggs that we got a week ago are moldy and stink does that mean they arnt' gonna make it. They were laid over the weekend and the snakes are at the school so we found them tuesday and we didn't have a nesting box. So I think we blew it and they arn't gonna hatch. Any imput? I think we made it to humid once we got them set up. I don't help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Probably bad. Incubate them anyway if it makes you feel better

yea i think i'm gonna throw them out the stink like mad so i don't think it's worth keeping them incubating cuz they all have mold growing. ohh well is there any way to get her to lay again this year or do corns not do that?

Thanks to all for the help,

Feed her aggressively (2x a week) for a few weeks and she should/could double clutch for you.

If the eggs are bad it might not be from being laid over the weekend with out a nestbox. I know I have had snakes lay eggs outside the box and sit for a day with no problem.

They may just have been slugs. Theres a multitude of reasons snakes can lay slugs: too young or not cooled enough are two common reasons. How many eggs did she lay?

SpaidsReptiles Jun 07, 2007 12:07 PM

she laid 18 good ones and 5-6 slugs...the other problem was that we were tryin to bring them back from being dryed out so i think we made it to wet and that's wut killed them but i'm definitly not a pro at this. She is definity old enough she's like 6-7yrs old, i think it's her first clutch. she might not have been cooled long enough.

I'll try to get her to double clutch, how long will it take for her to do it, cuz she's a very large corn like 4ft and about 1.5 inches in diameter

Thanks for all the help
