Dan and decided to head out last Friday night, just before the storms were starting to hit. We werent sure if anything except the Amphibs would be out but decided it beat sitting at home.
We headed up through the Kettle Moraine Forest on the Scenic Drive. Just outside of West Bend we came across our first find, this good sized Common Snapper walking along the edge of the road next to a farm field.

The next find was this Toad on the road.

Isnt he a cutie?

After seeing a bazillion frogs and toads on the roads and the biggest damn earthworms crossing the roads we decided to turn around and back track our way home. These earthworms I thought were sticks on the road from the winds and rain so I finally decided we needed to see just exactly what they were. I have never seen 10-12 inch earthworms crossing the roads in this great of numbers lol.
After seeing so many of these worms we almost missed this guy and we both yelled SNAKE! at the same time. This was quite comical. Well it was almost a worm anyways, our first snake of the year up here in WI turned out to be a very plump Dekay snake. Funny thing, my first snake of the year in AR was also a little Dekay snake earlier this year.
Didnt realize I caught a tongue flick until I got home and uploaded the pics to start editing. It was raining and I was trying more-so to protect my camera so the shots of him arent great.

So for the night the final count was:
TMTC Frogs and Toads. A few that we did identify:
Eastern Gray Treefrog Hyla versicolor
Wood Frog Rana sylvatica
Eastern American Toad Bufo americanus
About a bazillion gigantic earthworms lol
(1) Dekay snake Storeria dekayi
(1) Common Snapping Turtle Chelydra serpentina
(1) Very smashed water turtle, unidentifiable.
