Sorry to but in on your question...I'm wondering the same thing about my Blatta's...I have a order coming soon...will I be able to feed the sub-adults to my babies???? I'm pretty sure the Blatta's are smaller than the lobsters and Dubia's...glad you asked the question

The adults are about an inch long. They should be fine.
Well in the case of the Dubia I personally feel there a little thick shelled to feed to a hatchling. Also when you say hatchling how old or what’s the length are you talking?
As for you Keith just use the old rule, if it doesn’t fit between their eyes don’t feed it to them. But I can say your dragon does have some age to it, so most likely the sub-adults Blatta’s would be ok. Not to mention Blatta’s are very soft bodied so this is even better then Dubia or Orange heads.
But like I said this is what I feel or think and we always can fall back on the old rule of thumb when it comes to feeding your dragon.
i agree with jason (fireballz). the dubia roaches have a harder shell than most other roaches to feed for hatchlings. with my newest baby *translucent female* i waited a bit before giving her dubia. not sure her age, but she was small when i got her, maybe 5 inches in length or so, i started her on small lobster roach nymphs and worked from there. with the softer roaches, same rule as other feeder, the space between their eyes, just like the poster above said

Thanks for the advice. To clarify, my hatchlings are 3 1/4 to 4 inches long. I bought 120 mixid dubias to start a colony as well as 5 pairs of adults. I didnt really want to use these as feeders though. It sounds as though I need to order some blatta nimphs. By the way while on the subject I have my dubias in a rubbermaid 30 gallon tub in my basement. The ambient temp is about 67 degrees. I have heat tape underneath . When I shoot inside on the floor it reads 92 on one side and 82 on the other. It reads 78 towards the top of the egg cartons. I have alot of condensation all over the inside of the tub. My question is should i drill more holes or just put screen on it? And if I do put screen on it will this take care of the condensation. Also will it create a draft, and if so will this be ok? One more thing. When I first recieved the roaches there were a few that could climb right up the sides of the tub. Hmm!!! I thought this wasnt possible. I might have to feed those few off!!! Sorry for the book but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ok first the condensation will kill everything you have if its not taking care of. Mold and bacteria will take over. Yes screen half the top. But then aging is your basement damp that could also be the reason. If screening the top doesn’t take car of this move them to a different location. If you have had a lot of condensation on the creates you might want to look at them to make sure there is no mold already living on them. If so I would replace them or some people here bake the in the oven.
The temp’s sound ok not to hot no to cold, they should breed well in those temps.
As far as the roaches climbing the side are you sure it wasn’t a foreign roach? If not its very common for the smaller nymphs to climb the sides if the side are smooth any texture will allow them to climb. If this keeps happing place a strip of packing tape around the tub this will keep them from going any higher.
If your looking for some blatta let me know I can help you out with that.
Good luck and if you have any other questions or need advice feel free to contact me.

i also have notice my dubia nymphs climbing more often these days. i know they are considered non climbers but they are making it up the sides of my rubbermaid tubs. ive found them inside the handles of the containers. so ive just put some bugstop around the container just as i did for lobsters
