Need some opinions please!

Alrighty, we have had Marley 78 days now. Pooping has always been the big issue for him. His latest pattern was 7 days, 8 days & today 10 days between poops. To get him to poop always involved a stomach massage. Both vets he went to said his colon was paralyzed put him down. He never had that 'send me to the bridge' look, I couldn't do it. He has too much spunk and is too dang sweet. Well, this AM he pee'd and I could see his vent was still open a bit so I figured today would be poop day. I massaged him and the poop started (I'll try to word all this delicately). So I decided to stop the massage. I told him he had to finish the job himself. At first nothing happened, I kept talking to him (a poop talk? )Then he drew his legs up, BTW I was holding him up over a disposible pad, and his legs began to quiver and shake & I could see his stomach contracting. The poop continued, he did 75% of it himself. He would stop & rest then continue. The last tiny bit I did have to finish off & there was some undigested grass so perhaps that was why.
Now where I need the opinion.... Does that sound like a paralyzed colon? Or does this sound like his internal tract is healing? Or am I getting excited over nothing? I really need all opinions on this, I was beginning to loose heart.
Thank you~

You said that he go about 75% out by himself, right? That doesn't sound paralyzed to me. But I'm not a vet. Come to think of it, I never even knew a colon could be paralyzed. Maybe the stomach massages are helping to stimulate his colon enough to get it to move things the way it should. I've had my Ig for 5 years and I swear I learn something new about her every week. Anyway, it sounds like what ever it is, there is some progress being made. Most importantly, is sounds like Marley is willing to work with you. Good luck!

Sounds to me like you need a very new vet that has expierence with this type of injury. It does not sound like his colon has been affected but that its merely slow and needs to be worked with. He is willing to work for you so that is good and it shows that he trusts you to take care of him.
