Awesome Monday eve photo shoot no DU

rainbowsrus Jun 05, 2007 02:37 AM

Hey all, had a really cool photo session tonight, was working on getting some comparison shots and
pretty much every snake cooperated and held still for pics. Was the most fun photo session Ive ever
had. No chasing down snakes, no "quick snap the pics before it moves". Just arrange, and take pics,
add another snake, take more pics. So, with no further adeau......

I started the session with Rhett, He's a 2006 baby from Will Bird, He Scarlett and Vivian are all
descended from Lamar's Leticia Columbia locality group. They all have tons of blue and purple in
their colors, Rhett shows it the most. They are also loaded with bulseyes and stretched crescents:

I then added in Scarlet for some pair shots

Then one of Scarlet by herself. She's a very orange girl:

And not to be left out, Vivian:

Couldn't resist getting a new pic of Tawney, my Anery female. Love those white crescents, she's keeping
those whoite colors very well, gotta love the sharp line of anery BRB's:

I then shifted gears a bit and pulled out Amber. This girl is stunning, colors are out if this world
and her ocelli (side blotches) have no crescents and the dark fades to a lighter center.

How about some hypo's? This is Mickey, a EBN 2005 male. Very striking colors and thick bold crescents:

Not to be out done, here's Dottie, one of Mike Lockwoods 2004 females. This girl is drop dead gorgeous,
Tangerine colors and even bullseye patterns:

Now's where the real fun begins. Several of the previous individual shots are actually out of sequence,
they were taken as either cropped down from group or even slightly seperated for individual shots. The
following series of pics are all in sequence and for the most part just builds and builds

Amber was already out and staying still so I added in Rhett:

All looking good so added in Mickey

Note, I do change angles fairly often but if you pay close attention, you can see the individual snakes
stay in the same position. Quite unusual for even one to stay but several staying put is soooo cool:

Unfortunately, Rhett didn't want to sit still so he went back away leaving Amber and Mickey hanging out.

This is working out cool so,let's add in Mickey, he thinks he's a ball python, therapy has not helped:

Wow, they are still staying put, let's add in Dottie so we have accross the top, Dottie, Mickey and
Dumbo (all hypo's) with Amber below Mickey:

Now for a little contrast, Not just color, also size and pattern, I added in Zoe and Ziggy (Zoe's
toward the left).

That's where things broke down, Dottie moved, bumped Mickey who also decided to move. Now I'm
scrambling to get them all put away. OK, really only Dottie and Mickey, the rest were still staying put
but I was done.

Isn't that a cool series of pics????

sweet Amber is just awesome

rainbowsrus Jun 05, 2007 03:00 AM

This was the first pic I have showing Amber on 08/26/2005, not very clear but you can see Savannah around the water bowl and many of her babies crawling around. Amber is the one on the right side down on the newspaper.

Pic #2 shows Amber much clearer, you can really see her lack of crescents

A cropped closeup of just her from pic 2

When I was putting the individual babies into their own tubs, I saw her and thought "wow, what do we have here?" I had to take a couple of pics right away. You can see she still has her umbilical. Of course I gave her card number 1 from her litter - SA-PO-01

And here I thought I would see a picture of one of your children.........

I used my camera so much for snakes and the motorcycle, I felt guilty last week and actually took pics of the kids on their swing set.

Dave,

amazing pictures i must say. im curious tho...what morphs are zoe and ziggy...i like the oranges and reds of all your other snakes, and rhett, ur right is amazing. but zoe and ziggy seem to stand out to me the most...thier contrast is awesome.

rainbowsrus Jun 05, 2007 09:09 AM

Zoe and Ziggy are a pair I recently picked up from Jess Losse. I got them because of the extreme dorsal striping. Best two of the litter, at least of those available. Unfortunately there was a third that escaped and was never found

Pics:

Zoe

Ziggy

damn looks like Scarlett could eat Rhett lol. I absolutely loved the colors on Mickey especially his dorsal pattern and his crescents cuz they are pretty much the same color like Daisy and that matches I say to much stuff about Dottie so I refuse to blow your head up even more Dr. Colling. Amber appears to be glowing next to Mickey too. I have never seen a hypo with that color that Dumbo exhibited, is that a new breed lol Dottie also looks to be bigger than Amber too or are my eyes deceiving me? Thanks for sharing btw
Bob

rainbowsrus Jun 05, 2007 01:08 PM

Just glad it's Scarlett that's twice the size of Rhett, not the other way around, I'm sure he can still do the deed, evn if a little guy!

Can you say Mickey x Dottie and Eve? And maybe another normal or two this fall?

I rally wanted to get Amber next to other BRB;s so y'all could see just how off the chart she really is! Absolutely stunning!!

Dottie is a year older than the rest. Still, she's a slow eater so similar to a normal 2 year old. Amber is also a slow eater so she's the smallest 2 year old I have, inbetween the typical 2 year old and my 1 year olds. I already expect her to NOT be ready to breed at 2 1/2 years and figure she will be ready at 3 1/2 years.

that Dottie was an '04 and Amber an '05 but there is definately a size difference but you know you can't rush perfection Dave. My girl was born in Oct. so she will be at almost 3.5 years old when she goes if she goes which means bigger litter but that first litter isn't suppose to be that big right or is that the 2.5 year old mother's first litter? Yes Amber is a glowing girl and her color change is great, she went from a regular normal brb to having a color transformation so to speak and that must have been exciting for you.
Bob

rainbowsrus Jun 05, 2007 01:41 PM

Absolutely, re rushing perfection. Litter size is based on female size. Expecting a small first litter comes form first time breeding towards the smaller size. I plan on using thet fact for getting smaller litters of hets for outcrossing. Really only want a few from any given litter to reach the ultimate gola of infusing several unrelated lines into the overall hypo and Anery projects.

Amber always looked special and within the first few sheds was already showing outstanding color to go with those wild looking ocelli.

Wow, I can't believe they all stayed so still for you! Hey, is Mickey normally that light or was he in shed? I hope I got the name right....the one who was thinking he was a ball python?

strictly4fun Jun 05, 2007 02:52 PM

mislabeled that one, Dumbo was the one is shed as Mickey and Dottie are bullseyes and Dumbo has the elongated crescents IMO but Dave was prolly so happy at the pics he didn't notice lol
Bob

rainbowsrus Jun 05, 2007 03:55 PM

Bob knows my babies better than I do. Yes that is Dumbo, I just put in the wrong name. BTW, did get it right in the next line of verbiage. I guess thiss'll add another week or two on the couch for him, Dad calling by the wrong name and didn't even catch it!

Yes DUMBO is noticeably lighter than the other two. Not sure if he might be in shed and therefore even lighter, I'll check later when I get home.
