I've seen an eastern box in person, since I kept one for a few months, but today was the first time I saw a 3-toed in person. The local pet store has them. Unfortunately for the, they're wild caught almost certainly, and will probably never get used to being ain a tank... and unfornately for 3-toeds in general, since box turtles are of concern in many states. I know a lot of states don't allow collecting easterns.... are there any which don't allow collected 3-toeds?
Anyway, despite the fact that the turtles I saw today didn't have the bright yellow like my T. Herman did, and the striking contrast of yellow and black on the carapace, I really found the three-toeds attractive. So now I know what my baby will look like when he or she grows up.
BTW, my baby box will be named either Frederick or Frederika (or Frederica) when I find out what sex the turtle is.
