Determining sex and age of new baby???

QTGirl813 Aug 16, 2003 02:19 PM

I just posted a message twice by accident, sorry. Is there any way at all to tell the sex of a baby. I know it's almost impossible but if anyone knows please let me know. Also is there anyway to determine age??

If your dragon is only three inches then it probably is very young. Maybe only a few weeks old. But it depends on if it got the proper care and feeding and if it was in with a bunch of other babies. As far as telling the sex, you can tell on small dragons. Although some are tricky to tell. Ususally you want to wait untill they are 4-8 weeks old just to be safe. And on some you cant even tell untill they are many months old. What you can do is hold the dragon in your hand then lift its tail upwards. And gently rolling the tail back and forth(left and right) you look for too small lumps on each side of the tail next to its vent. If you can defintly see them then most likely its a male. If you only see one lump in the center of the tail then most likely its a female. but by the sounds of it your dragon may be too small to sex right now. Hope this helps and sorry if its confusing. Can you post pics of the new baby?

peace,
nathan

Thanks Nathan! That was actually very helpful. I imagined he was probably only a few weeks. Even though he's young and real small he's actually doing really well considering how he was at the store. He runs after the crickets and eats collard greens, and he's pretty active. Every now and then of course he'll close his eyes and act like he's sleeping which can be normal sometimes so I'm not concerned, since everything else seems to be okay. I would love to show you guys a pic but I tried to take a picture of the little guy this morning and realized my digital camera isn't working...so I'll put one up as soon as I can. Thanks again for your help I'll keep you updated.
