Explain Parks Funding & Historical Site

OHI Jun 05, 2007 04:35 PM

All,

Can someone breakdown in simple terms the problems in HB 12 in reagrds to the park funding and the historical sites?

Also do we have anything we can use with the language about TPWD being allowed to sell timber on parks?

What other parts of HB 12 are at issue?

What about the Rep that Hilderbran replaced on the committee? Chisum? Has anyone talked to them and what did they say?

Joe, if you can list all the other issues with HB 12 on your website we can tell folks about those issues as well.

It is such a large amount of money there are conflicts as to how the money will be appropriated.

The Historical sites issue has to do with worries that the Historical commission will not be able financially upgrade, repair and maintain the Historical sites being transferred to the them.

I don't know anything about this at all. But a big maybe here.

>>What other parts of HB 12 are at issue?

The document is 60 pages in length, and there is bound to be other issues in there that the legislators don't agree 100% about, I just don't know what those issues might be.

We have put in calls but to date they are unanswered. It's pretty obvious the is a riff there, and also a riff between Craddick and Hilderbran, again if I understand this correctly.

I can get some more info there later today. I have to do some yard work this morning. I expect to be getting several return phone calls today. The Reps should be back in office today and are being briefed by staffers as to our calls, probably as I write this text.
