Ian, you asked a question earlier.....

about text I have used for parasite ID. Have used others, but the ones I use the most are the following four:

Foundations of Parasitology - Schmidt and Roberts
Parasitology - Noble and Noble
Essentials of Parasitology - Schmidt
Diagnostic Parasitology - Garcia and Ash

Great books, although somewhat dated, they are still quite good.
I have an old binocular Unitron BPH microscope that I picked up used in the mid-70's. It is old as well, but is in good shape and has an upper mag of 1,000. It will do anything that I would every need it to do. As you said, I have looked at a fair amount of crap, but I still need the books to jog my memory occasionally. Thanks,

Kelly

Those are general parasitology, or veterinary parasitology books? I havn't heard of any of them (?) Your microscope has all you need IMO with it's oil immersion lens.

Ian

ps, thanks for the references, I'll add those books to my "wanna get list"

The first two are college text books, and the second two are diagnostic laboratory text. They are around 20 years old, but still good reference books.

That Unitron I have was a top line microscope in its day, and much nicer ones are available today. But you are correct in that the oil immersion capabilities are nice.
