Getting Serious

run26neys Jun 05, 2007 07:42 PM

Today I registered a domain name, and I will be filing the neccessary paperwork to register the business name in the county I live in on Friday. I will then need to get a federal tax id number, and I should be on my way to owning my very own business. I am sure you all will be surprised that the business will be focused on snakes!

Congratulations and I don't think anyone is surprised lol.

Good luck and be sure to ask questions of your fellow entrepeneurs on the forum.

Sean.

I will wait to announce until I get the name registered with the county clerk, and this stakes a few weeks. I have to annouce it for two weeks or so in the legal notices in the paper. I figured I might as well pay a few $ to reserve the website name.

Whether Professional full time breeder or hobbyist breeder, it's still the same four corner stones of your business, HONESTY, INTEGRITY, CUSTOMER SERVICE and quality animals!!!

Notice the "quality animals" was not capitilized. Without the other three, doesn't matter how good your animals are, you'll have a hard time with the business.

I hear you on the four cornerstones.

I bought my one male from Jeff Clark because he said it was above average and based on the fact that he had priced it higher than others. I lurked around here for a while and had lerned of the respect he has from the people here. I am extremely happy with this male.

In dealing with Mike Lockwood he gave me tons of advice and information on buying an animal from someone else! Since then I have bought two animals from him, and hope to get more from him this year.

but since you got those hets from Mike and if they were sired by his Hypo Male #2 which is the litter from '06, that still has some available that not only are those hets het for hypo but have a 50% chance of carrying the anery gene too so keep that in mind since you have bigger and better plans going on with your business and yes Mike is the man.

Exactly my point, listen to your gut, talk to the breeders and make your decisions carefully. Quality breeders are the first step. I have been known to pay more then normal for the right animal, much better off with top notch animals to start with than average ones.
