Full grown BRB pic request

Railrider1920 Jun 05, 2007 08:23 PM

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if you kind folks would please post some pictures of some full grown BRBs. If you have pics that have something else in it for size reference, that would be great. My wife would like to see some so she knows exactly what she got us into. Well, I would too

Thanks,
Rob

I love my method of saving pic links.....almost no time at all was spent actually crafting that post, two cut/pastes and several return strokes to get the pics on the next line from the text entries and enter......whoooosh

I was thinking about this pic for like a month now. Is this pic Savannah or it mislabeled. I remember you always said that you saw the potential of her when you first got her but if this her? She looks like she could a relative to Betty or Wilma pretty much. Sorry for asking but I just couldn't get it out of my little head so I had to build the courage to ask you lol but true
First pic

but this is the one

Sorry for asking btw
Bob

rainbowsrus Jun 05, 2007 10:03 PM

Yes, both are her. As you know, they go through color changes, depending on time of day. They also (Duh) go through shed cycles. What I've also noticed is humidity plays a HUGE part in color and iridescence. In the first pic, her colors are not showing that well and appears the camera/lighting dulled her out. The second pic she is fully hydrated, and yeah, the camera/lighting pumped up her color. Not to mention, in that second pic she has that "expectant mother glow"!!

Just to be absolutely certain, I did pull her out and verify neck patterns on pic one and body patterns on pic two. YES 100% certain both pics are of Savannah!!!

And her breeding with Nathan

good looking snakes which leads to happy and healthy snakes which leads to happy owner. On a side note Dave I would never buy an a adult snake cuz that takes all the fun out of it for me but if Lefty quit producing sperm (I know that doesn't happen or think it wouldn't at least) I would love that guy at my house lol. I don't know what it is about him but I love that guy. Maybe if you call him M5 again he will start putting out for you again lol. I really hope the other males can rile (sp?) him up a lot so you can lots of options, lots of options from me to pick from haha

Oh, duh, I get your point. And yes, better environment has taken that crusty lil thang and turned her into a hottie!!!!

That is my plan for next year. Male cooling will be in groups so they can push and shove each other around. Maybe even toss a sacrificial virgin in there to really get them riled up prior to them going to their individual harems!

And Lefty has earned his spot in my collection, several of my holdbacks came from him. If I could just get him to go with Savannah and Daisey just once each......imagine those keepers!!

Right above pic four it says Lefty Gotcha!!

He's been in a group with Petunia, Savannah and also Nathan. Lefty totally let me down last year and none of the females he was with took so I didn't want to risk too much with him this year. Will have to wait and see how it goes.

OOUUUUU, Love Amber so.....

This was the first pic I have showing Amber on 08/26/2005, not very clear but you can see Savannah around the water bowl and many of her babies crawling around. Amber is the one on the right side down on the newspaper.

Pic #2 shows Amber much clearer, you can really see her lack of crescents

A cropped closeup of just her from pic 2

When I was putting the individual babies into their own tubs, I saw her and thought "wow, what do we have here?" I had to take a couple of pics right away. You can see she still has her umbilical. Of course I gave her card number 1 from her litter - SA-PO-01

Now it's 09/30/2005, right after her second shed and the blush in her side medalions is starting to show.

11/13/2005 Almost three months old, a week and half after third shed.

12/20/2005, outside in my cherry tree in natural light, WOW, this girl is starting to really glow. BTW, she shed just before these pics were taken.

Another pic on 12/20, inside under incandescent lighting

Two more pics on 12/20, outside again on the sidewalk one showing each side

Two pics from 06/01/2006, new pics for the website launch

07/11/2006, I took this pic with Amber, two Hypo's Dottie is more orange and Mickey is mostly toward the right, towards the left is Hook, one of my bullseyes, in the middle is Amber and toewards the right is Rose. I love this shot as it shows a LOT of variety in colors/patterns.

07/11 again, just Amber

09/04/2006, now just over a year old

11/03/2006, not a great pic but still a great subject

These last four pics are from tonight. She was definately a great choice for holding back.

Plus the two from yesterday:

and voila posted

It's all a relative thing, compared to corn's, BRB's are huge. Compared to many boa's, they are puny. IMO, they are a perfect size for one person to always be able to handle and get large enough to be impressive with out getting either dangerous or simply too large to easily handle. A 4 to 8 pound (Typical for BRB) snake is easy to pick up. a 10 to 15 pound snake is getting heavy and at 20 plus pounds, they are not comfortable to pick up and walk around with etc.
