Hi,

After years of looking, I finally found a L. zonata in northern california (Trinity County). It was an adult female. I don't post many animals I find but, this one is worth it.

I was diving for western pond turtles but this hatchling was in a little side pool full of tadpoles.

Just to make this the best weekend for herps, I found 8 albino pacific tree frog tadpoles (Hyla regilla). Other herps were caught as well but these were the best.

hats off to you sir that is awsome. diving for marms is a riot. here in mi we get a couple former "clemmys" but westerns are a favorite also. i assume the pic is the northern form? zak.

That's a beautiful "z". I like that she's got a lot of black in here pattern. Congrats to you. I'm still hoping to encounter my first one in the wild.
