I think she's done it again, sat out in the rain too long & ended up too chilled. It rained in May more than it has rained in that month for the last 15 years or so.
Even though I found her on the highway that takes us from our neighborhood into town 2 years ago, I never believed she was a wild one. I always thought she was someone's dumped pet because of the way she behaved.
Now I'm more convinced than ever that she was a dumped pet because she's an adult.. how could a wild adult have made it to adulthood when she's gotten herself sick twice from sitting in the rain?
I've noticed when it's raining & the temps are dropping Hobo the wild boy always knows what to do, he takes cover & he's always fine.

So she's going to the vet this morning, I'll drop her off then pick her up after 5 when I take the lizards that I borrow back home. The vet will check her out sometime during the day & decide what medicine(s)she needs.
I don't know if this staying outside year round in the pen idea is going to work out for all of them or not. I guess we'll see what happens in the fall. :::sigh:::

Ratz, so sorry to hear that. At least she resides with someone who will get her the proper treatment! Hope all ends well!

Thanks Ken for the well wishes.
Now I don't know what is wrong with her. I left her with the vet, the vet took some x-rays then she went out of town. I didn't know until we got there that she was about to hop on a plane & leave town. By the time I got back to pick Janie up after 5PM the employees at the hospital couldn't remember what the vet had told them about her.
So now I am going to have to wait until this afternoon when the vet calls in to find out what she diagnosed & what we're to do.
She's not so dehydrated now but she still won't eat. I saw something odd on her x-rays but couldn't really tell what it was.. a possible intestinal obstruction? That's what it looked like to me then I thought.. sand from the pen? Maybe.
I need to speak to the vet or these people who work for her need to do that & WRITE down what she tells them!

Hopefully by this evening I will know the diagnosis so I can know what to do for her.
Meantime.. she's in the house for now.

Vet finally called in yesterday & she said do fluids, & nebulizer until she gets back. I now know that they've gone to Ohio for a veterinary seminar so she really had to go out of town.
Vet said possible kidney problem.. I think the vet needs a little more time with Janie to make a definative diagnosis & that day I took her in the vet just did not have the time.
Maybe we'll get some blood work done when she's back.

I'm still thinking it's got something to do with that sand I saw Janie get all over her nightcrawler then she ate it & I saw her do that more than one time. She's not really having respiratory symptoms that I can hear.. but she was dehydrated when I took her in. If there's infection anywhere then at least the nebulizer is a nice & safe way to get antibiotics into her until the vet gets back.
I feed them away from the sand & on plates but she keeps dragging them over to the sand. If that's the problem then I need to find a way to make sure that when they get nightcrawlers they eat them on a clean surface.
I've been soaking her twice a day & that has greatly helped stop that dehydration, she's now doing 1 CC of fluids daily too so I'm not seeing that dehydrated look in her face now.
She's not eating but she's only gone for less than a week without food now so I am not too worried about that just yet.
Wish Janie luck, I hope we solve this next week!
