OT - keep finding cool stuff in the yard

j3nnay Jun 06, 2007 11:02 AM

I had to chuckle - I wasn't the one who found it, my brother came in and said "Mom found a snake and she doesn't know what it is, can you come out and tell us?" Imagine my surprise to find a rosy boa! It was in our garage, trying to get under the fridge, so we caught it and took a few pictures and then I let it go in the yard right outside the garage door. Figure the yard is better for it than the concrete floor.
:D

Thanks for looking!

Gorgeous snake, where are you located. I have 7 rosies, they are almost as cool as ball pythons.

I don't know where you live, but in Florida where I am, releasing non-native wildlife is a crime. Even if that is where you found it.

I believe she lives in Cal. and rosy's are native there so she was just helping it on its way. Cool little guy. I found a leopard gecko in my garden recently but I kept him!!!

Rosy boas are a native species, that's why. It's illegal for me to keep it without a license, which I don't have.

I guess I thought it wasn't native to your area since you were surprised to find it.

They're native, but no longer nearly as common because there's been a lot of collecting as well as development, housing-wise. I've been here almost 7 years now and hadn't seen one on our property up til now.
