Boiga Dendrophila

lobeo Jun 06, 2007 09:00 PM

Greetings,
Looking for a little help with my first Boiga. Just got him 3 weeks ago and although he is healthy and relatively calm, am having trouble getting him feeding. Read a lot of posts on here about feeding tips for them and am about to try some of them. Couple of other concerns I have tho:
He seems to not be very active at all, even at night. I have tried giving him more cover/security during the day to reduce his stress and been very diligent about temps and humidity. He started showing signs of a shedding last week but never completed it. Now he is covered with his old skin that is coming off in patches but wont seem to shed it. Any tips on helping him get it off? Or should I just let him be? Never had a prob like this before so unsure of any issues that might arise if I leave him with the old skin hanging on him.
Thanks for any info or suggestions

Well, I had posted my original message in anticipation of my boiga not feeding again this week as he completely ignored last week's offering of a live mouse (which the dealer I purchased him from said he had been feeding on previously). Of course 30 minutes after posting, I turn around and he's just finishing his kill and first feeding for me and I couldn't be happier. Although I am still concerned about the shedding issue if anyone has any useful tips. I was considering soaking although I'll have to wait at least a day now that he's eaten. Thanks in advance for any tips.

Mist with a spray bottle 2-3 times per day. Should only take a few applications to loosen that remaining skin.
