Ouch!

Stupid is as stupid does!

After throwing a f/t rats into one of my females cages, I didn't wash my hands before trying to refill a water tub for my 6 foot (food obsessed) pastel bci. He latched on to three of my fingers before I could react (luckily). I remained still for about the minute or so he chose to hold on (it was interesting to feel the roof of a snakes mouth...never felt that before). Once he let go, I bled a bit, but felt very relieved that he chose to let go, rather than to try and pursue my fingers as a meal haha!

It hurts more now than it did when I was bit...darn!

and after I cleaned it up:

Here's the snake that did it:

And isn't it amazing just how much/fast it BLEEDS? From those tiny tiny little holes....

The worst bite I had was from my husband's GTP, which got me when I was trying to get it into a bin for a good shed-soak when it had problems shedding once... stupid me for trying to poke her off her perch with my bare hand... she got me right on my index finger knuckle (where my finger joins my hand). Didn't hurt badly when it happened, but boy did that one bleed, and then BRUISE!

Heh... Gotta love 'em.

Such sharp teeth! Although this was the biggest snake that has bitten me, it wasn't the worst bite. I was bitten a few years ago by a 3 foot Mexican black kingsnake. I had just bought him, and he latched on to my hand and started chewing and twisting. I sat and waited for what seemed like five minutes before I submerged him in water, and he finally released. He smelled snake on me, and was hungry and was not wanting to give up his meal!

I know all too well how it feels. One of my snakes has shedding problems and I was proud of her because she never bit me or even struck at me. I was helping her shed and talkin to my uncle sure enough as soon as I said she has never bit me WHACK right in the gut.

Amy,

I did the same thing...Ouch! I ended up playing tug-o-war with a six foot albino boa. It's funny how much one bleeds from a bite. It looked as if I lost a finger lol.

Take care,
