Tim,
Any good material specifically for EDBs or rattlers, in general?

I'm going to order this one you just recommended but was curious about any others.

Thanks for the good thread, ERYK! Good timing!

Take care!

Both recommendations giver are good. But I think you were on the right track the first time. For information based on housing and keeping of venomous your best resource are those who do. This will give you a wider variety of tips tricks and ways to keep them.

As for general information books on rattlesnakes there are a ton.

This one is a great one to start with

Not intended to be cliché, but- read your snake. No kidding. I would hope that any keeper makes a habit of studying your captive by thorough observation. Watch them eat, poop, shed, basically every action including in the dark when they don’t know you’re looking. Books are a sorry excuse for becoming an expert in anything, just my humble opinion. They can describe a snake on a hook, but until you are there a few times, you don’t really know squat. Big mistake by newbies is thinking they are ready to jump into a hot because they’ve read everything. You have to have “hands on” (maybe don’t take that literally) experience. Margin for error- zero. That’s just how it is. It is a huge responsibility and decision to get into keeping a venomous reptile. Not to be taken lightly.
