Skunk X Deb babies are coming out!!!

bhmorrill Jun 07, 2007 01:22 AM

Here are the first 5 of the babies from our '07 Skunk X Deb clutch to emerge. Looks like we have at least one possible Skunk Jr. in this clutch!!! I was pretty stoked to see him...but was wishing it was a her. Oh well, 13 more to come out still, so hopefully we will get a nicely striped female by the end of it all. This clutch is looking much more like what I expected to see last year, but I guess last year's clutch was pretty small. Anyway, for those of you taking part in our giveaway, looks like lucky #7 will more than likely be out either sometime tonight, or early tomorrow. But, I have decided to keep that one a secret until we do the drawing, just to keep you all on the edge of your seats a bit more Anyway, thanks for looking!!!

First one out is a nice spotted female

Second one out is our best candidate for Skunk Jr., loving this guy already!!! Can't wait until he sheds!!!

Third one out is another female, and this one has some nice thin banding

Number four is another partial striped male

And number five is another partial striped male, with almost as much striping as number 2 above!!!

We will for sure get some better pics once these kids all shed out. Also, I will get my hatchling pic of Skunk scanned in so you all can see how he looked as a young one. Fun stuff...and more pics to come tomorrow!!!

Thanks for the kind words. Also, Skunk just shed last night, so I will have to get some updated pics of him. He is still looking pretty good for being 3 yrs old now.

Also, during the night #'s 6 and 7 came out. I stayed up until 1:30am and then got up at 6:30am, but I still missed seeing exactly which one came out as #7, so I guess we will let whoever wins the drawing choose between the two that hatched out last night. So, I am going to keep their pics a secret until we do the drawing, but I will say that they are both females Anyway, thanks again for the comments. It is nice to see others excited about our projects. And Dave, I will for sure put up some final counts as far as stripes vs. banded etc. as soon as they are all out. And Chris, as far as the giveaway goes, we have had pretty good interest so far, but I would imagine that once the other site gets back up that we will see much more. Still have a few more days... But anyway, I will keep the pics coming over the next couple of days while the rest emerge.

You know I like the babies skunk puts out. I don't want to miss getting one of the pure jungles this year. I like my Skunk Coastal striped male but side by side with one of the skunk jungles, I don't think there would be a comparison.
By the way, here are the pics of those "Skunk" Coastal crosses you wanted to see. I didn't even take a picture of the third femal since she was in shed. Too bad, she has the most yellow pulling in of them all. As you can see, all of these exhibit some striping. I really like the fist female to hatch this year. Can't wait to see the rest and get a pair of them.

99% Striped Male (JXC-M1)

The Runt... (JXC-M24) He's still small compared to the rest

Partial Stripe (JXC-F13). Nice Black belly.

Blackie... (JXC-F17) She is very dark down her sides as well.

Thanks for the kind words Chris. I am pretty stoked too!!! Fun stuff for sure. Now they just need to hurry up and shed!!!

Thanks for posting those pics of the crosses you got from us last year. They look like they are coming along nicely. I will be very intersted to see what they give you when you breed them together, and if you ever decide you want to part with that male, keep me in mind. I have missed him, but looks like you are taking good care of him, and have some nice females coming up to keep him busy for a few years
