Green tree frogs

Chriistian Aug 16, 2003 04:52 PM

I went to the pet store and saw a tank that said, "tree frogs - 5.99$" there were american green tree frogs and a frog that looked like the american green tree frog but was brown, all brown. Is that a different type of frog or just a rarer color, and, how many frogs do u think i can fit in a 15gal tall, i was only planning 2...and....does anyone know how to sex them?.....AND(sorry, just one more i swear) my plants, grass and weeds, recently started dying and im wondering if the light is fading as opposed to just totally going and if i should get a new one, it's a 15watt flourescent light.

Thank U

Hello,
Brown green treefrogs. There's either two answers... One its not a green treefrog at all, or two the treefrogs are very stressed. Both are very likely,...(IN my local Petsmart, there selling terrestrial frogs, as green treefrogs,...ughhh.

-Brown is not normally normal for a green treefrog.

-2 green treefrogs can live in a 15gallon.

- There really isn't that big of a way to sex your greenies other than, if you hear your male call. Another feature, but not always reliable is females are usually larger than males.

-and for your last questions, your light could very well be useless. Flourescent lights work only for a certain period of time, before becoming useless, and just being bright, and then it takes some even more time for it do die completley.

Hope I've helped,
Steven

Thank U so much, i think im gonna go get a new bulb and wait till all my plants grow out, than go back and get another frog. I know mine is a male because he wakes me up every night croaking, thanks so much for the advice.

Male GTF can also have yellowish-green coloration to their throats while female's are the same creamy white color of their bellies.
