dinah9400 Jun 07, 2007 09:12 AM

HELP...i have a 2 year old bearded dragon, there appears to be something wrong with her. She has turned black only on the edges of her beard and she has hardly eaten anything in the past 2 days and is hardly moving around her tank. i have the correct temperatures, lighting and hydration, i feed her escarole carrots squash and green peppers as well as crickets. please give your opinion as what might be wrong with her. thank you

Generally when they are gravid they stop eating and then are frantic and digging looking for a place to lay eggs. But this doesn't sound like your discription. I have no idea about the black on the edges of her beard. If you post a pic it would be more helpful.

I would recommend that you take her to the vet immediately. If she is egg bound and now inactive she is in trouble.

well took her to the vet, she was impacted. I put her in warm water and she shot the stuff everywhere, had to change the bathwater twice. He couldn't give me an answer as to why her beard edges turned black, hard to find a vet to treat her. today she is doing much better, she ate 3 doz. crickets and some greens her color is normal and i am so relieved. thank you again.

You need to change whatever caused the impaction. ie. substate, food, etc. Glad to here it turned out well!
