After 3 weeks of seeing nothing but Banded Geckos and Wolf Spiders, I finally found some cool herps!
My buddy Dave and I went out to North Central AZ scouting some possible roads for night cruising. Went down to the riverbed and found it was dry. Big surprise in AZ, right?
Well, we found some small pockets of water and there were fish and toads galore!

Down the way a bit, Dave starts yelling, so I run over there and this is what he pulls out of the muck:

Sonoran Mud Turtle - a lifer for me!
In another pool gorging on fish:

Black-necked Garter - Lifer #2!
Leaving the river:

Regal Horned Lizard
