Females not getting along?

Sara2 May 21, 2003 06:09 PM

I got a brand new 20L tank and set it up for my 3 females that are about the same age and weight(they are each in there own 10 gallons now). As soon as I put two of them in there one began smelling the other and eventually chasing and biting her on the tail. They are back were they were before now but I am wondering if they will ever be able to be together. I never even got the chance to try the other female. I really wanted to downsize on all the tanks, but it seems like everyone likes having their own.
Anything I can do or should I just give up?

I guess they just feel intimidated by each other, I had a pair who fighted for a while, but a few days later, they got along fine. I would just go for it, if the inferior female starts to lose weight or is badly hurt, then just seperate them.

It sounds to me like they may be males. When I bought what I was told was a female at a reptile show and I put 'her' in with my current male. My original male went over to the new one very low to the ground and then bit on to its tail. I then found out how to sex leo's and found the new one I had bought was in fact another male. I'm not saying this is definitly what is going on with your leo's but it is a possibility... good luck
