Growth rates and age?

Kingofspades Jun 08, 2007 03:02 AM

Ok, I know this is an overdone topic...but it really fascinates me to see all the different sizes and ages in the classifieds.
One guy was selling a 6 year old, 715 gram blonde pastel.
My lemon pastel male is a little over a year and is 810 grams. I've never power fed him or forced him to eat...he's just never skipped a meal.

I've seen '05 snakes at 400 grams for sale. I have an '06 that's 350 grams.

Am I just lucky?

I have a CH ghana female that's 5 weeks old and is already 165 grams...and another at 140 grams. They're both taking adult mice every 4-5 days.
I have a CH baby that's eaten ONCE since I got him. Same batch as the two females, and he's 40 grams.

Like I said...I just find it incredibly interesting how some snakes grow so fast and some...don't.

I HAVE A 2006 HET ALBINO FEMALE BALL THAT IS JUST NOW 1 YEAR OLD. AT PRESENT SHE IS 1800 GRAMS AND ALL I DID WAS FEED HER ON AN EVERY 4 DAY CYCLE AND EACH MONTH I MADE THE MEALS ALITTLE BIGGER. I TRY TO NEVER FEED MICE FUZZIES EVEN ONCE AS BALLS JUST GROW QUICKER ON RATS.

That is very true about them growing quicker on rats, as soon as my 0.5 normals babies that I aquired about two months ago can take rat hoppers I will immediatly switch them over to them.

Not lucky BP do grow at a different rate however for a 715 grams 6 years old is strange either the age is wrong or is scale is not working.

My 06 are anywhere between 450 grams and 850 grams fed an appropriate size meal once a week and nothing larger then a small rat (45-55grams) even for my biggest females, I believe in healthy snakes not power fed ones.

By the way the 450 grams is 2 months older then the 850 grams just to show you the difference in growth. They are fed the same way and have been with me for the same length of time.
